Where the Crawdads Sing

Author: Delia Owens

Sunsets are never simple. Twilight is refracted and reflected But never true….

“Never underrate the heart,
Capable of deeds The mind cannot conceive.
The heart dictates as well as feels.
How else can you explain The path I have taken,
That you have taken The long way through this pass?”

Do you think Academics are a must to gain Knowledge? Do you think only going to school will ensure your accomplishments? Well if your answer is yes! Then you need to read this book.

Situations make you mature even before Age. You learn to do things when you face them. And this is what made little Kya learn to survive on her own when her whole family left her one by one. She started exploring the Marsh and surroundings and that become her little world where seagulls were her only family and marsh her home.

The story starts as a murder mystery but I can’t say it’s only a murder mystery, it’s much more than that! It’s the story of survival! It’s the story of a girl being on her own, safeguarding herself from the intruders! She learns to cook, earn, protect, read, write; all on her own! Isn’t it amazing?

She never went to school but she knows Marsh better than anyone. She paints and collects specimens of marsh creatures with perfection. She writes poetry with anonymous name. She writes multiple books on Marsh and marsh creatures. The only people nice to her were only The gas station owner, his wife, & Tate- the guy she love.

This Story is of love and loyalty towards the person you love! Tate taught kya to read and write, helped her explore herself, and publish books! Tate was forever in love with kya and always loyal to her even when she was accused of murder.

This is the story of the ‘Marsh girl’ who stands firm against the world, who didn’t care about the judgments. Who knows how to protect herself from evil people. She proved she is intelligent of all and will never comprise with her dignity and self-respect even if it cost a life.

The book keeps you hooked till the end, though initially, it might get boring, you won’t be disappointed. It’s worth the patience. It’s one of the amazing books have come across.

How kya survive alone? Why did her family left her one by one? How could she write books when she never went to school? How she learnt to earn? How did she get vast knowledge of marsh? What she did to get rid of the person who fake love to get her on the bed? Who was the murderer? Will kya get ‘ happily ever After’ ending?
